Developer Track Record - Olhahali Island Maldives
The development team behind Zamani Islands has direct experience delivering greenfield island hospitality projects in the Maldives from reclamation stage through to operational stabilisation and institutional exit.
A relevant precedent is Olhahali Island Maldives, a fully reclaimed and engineered island developed from marine conditions into a completed luxury resort asset. The project encompassed marine works, coastal protection, full infrastructure installation, villa construction, and integration with international operator standards.
The resort officially opened in 2019. Within three months of opening, it achieved first place ranking on TripAdvisor among all Maldivian resorts based on guest reviews. This performance reflected immediate market acceptance and operational execution quality at launch stage.
In 2019, the property was included among the “100 Best Openings Worldwide” by Condé Nast. In the same year, it was recognised as Global Winner at the World Luxury Hotel Awards.
Under the Readers’ Choice Awards for the Indian Ocean region, the resort demonstrated consistent upward progression, ranking 30th in 2019, improving to 19th place in 2020, and reaching 4th place in 2021. This improvement trajectory within a relatively short operational timeframe reflected strengthening brand positioning and sustained guest satisfaction performance.
Following stabilisation, the asset was sold in 2021 as an operating hospitality business to Dubai Holding. It currently operates under the Jumeirah brand as Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali Island. The transaction was completed following operational stabilization and brand consolidation, demonstrating the ability to originate, develop, position and exit a Maldivian island asset within an institutional investment cycle.
The development, opening in 2019, rapid market recognition, and institutional sale in 2021 demonstrate execution capability within the Maldivian regulatory and marine environment, operational positioning within the luxury segment, and the ability to deliver an asset to a strategic buyer within a defined investment cycle.
